Hey there!
It’s been a while for Substack. It been too long, wouldn’t you say?
Life happens, and we all just have to breeze by with the wind. Especially with the ever-evolving situations that can be summed up as simply “politics”.
I’m writing this post because I want to talk about my creative plans and what I aim to do for this publication… at least that I feel comfortable with sharing here. My plans are literally changing by the minute, as I am an overthinker by nature.
Please excuse my rambling in this post. I do want to get better at controlling it, but feel that for this particular piece, it is suitable to do so.
New Pieces, Same Voice
One thing that I want to do is move more into a general commentary type style. Which is something I have been slowly doing since March but want to do more of. Reviews are getting tedious to a certain extent, and I hope that this will help improve my writing in more ways than one.
As with the point of this newsletter, there will still be no focus. But rather what I am interested in at the moment. Which could quite literally change nightly at 11:00 as I’m about to go to sleep. Since I tend to get a massive creativity spark during that time.
Speaking of creativity sparks, I have started a routine of writing 1 poem a day. Eventually I’ll enough to publish an anthology! Which is exciting and also terrifying to a degree, but I digress.
Where I’m Posting + Schedule
If you’ve been subscribed before May, (or June, the months blur), then you may notice that you are still getting emails from me. But from a different address. That is because I have still been writing and publishing content on a frequent basis. But just not on Substack. Which is horrible and gut-wrenching. I know!
The truth be told: marketing is… difficult, and Substack efforts are not going as well as I would like. So I have focused my time on my other self-hosted blog that I can at least attempt to say that I get some views. But in recent days I have seen the count start to increase, which may be my sign to do something more!
Then I realized that Substack is the key to discovery efforts, and attempting to use other platforms that rely more on independent marketing would be moot at best
So, here’s my plan. Forgive me if it’s horrible but I am a one-man show and oftentimes people don’t tell me issues before it’s too late.)
Beginning November 3, I’ll begin writing weekly posts onto Contemplations Of A Raised Ranch. These were posts that I already wrote and published elsewhere, but wish to release here in an effort to show activity so when I do begin releasing original content on here. It won’t be completely empty. These will only be posted to the web for the time-being.
At this time, I will continue to publish new content elsewhere, but I may move to have my primary “home” here on Substack if the numbers look promising enough. So do share this publication with others so I can make the switch!
Also there will be an active referral program within the next few days, what that looks like is still uncertain. But the growth experts say they’re good. So I’m following their word.
Regarding original content, paid subscriptions are enabled for $5/month or $40/year. At this time, the only big perk is being able to comment on posts. Which… if that’s worth the $5/month. By all means go ahead, but I do want to grow and get a bigger audience and see what could be done before adding more perks. But we’ll see.
Finally, I will be launching a podcast called Zach’s Mindcast that will be releasing new episodes first on Substack, and then on Spotify 72 hours later. There is no official ETA. But the trailer should be out in the next few weeks with the first episode following that. With frequent content beginning in Early 2025. Podcast episodes may or may not be for paid subscribers only, it has not been determined yet.
For those who have stuck around, I would like to thank you for your support. It really makes my day to have people tell me that they enjoyed reading my posts.
Thanks for taking the time to read this email. I hope to see you soon.
Until we meet again!
